Sophie Torres (Class of 2023), currently a freshman at South Brunswick High School, earned the distinction of having her article published on the front page of the first issue of the printed edition of the SBHS school newspaper for the 2023-24 school year. It was the only article written by a freshman to be published in the printed issue. Martin James (Class of 2012) and Ryan Speier, co-owners of Marty's rstaurant, were recently featured on WPIX-TV's Foodie Friday show. Marty's Fort Lee location was named the best cheeseburger in New Jersey by Yelp.com in September 2023. Marty's also has locations in Jersey City and Hackensack. Reverend Edmund Luciano III, KCHS, KOGCO (Class of 1997) was officially installed as the thirteenth pastor of the Church of the Sacred Heart in South Plainfield, NJ by Bishop James Checchio of the Diocese of Metuchen on October 29, 2023. |
Simeon Salins (Class of 2023) finished in 1st place in the Mercer County Cross Country Champoinships Freshman Race for Notre Dame High School. He also placed 9th in the Catholic Track Conference. |
Giovanni Oliveti (Class of 2020), currently a senior at St. Joseph High School, was named a College Board National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar for the 2023-24 academic year. Students receiving this recognition have completed rigorous academic requirements in their classes as well as excelling in the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®). |
Adrian Perdomo and Jake Stephen (both Class of 2020) currently seniors at St. Joseph High School, were named a Commended Student in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program. Students enter the program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), which serves as an initial screen of program entrants. As Commended Students, Adrian and Jake placed among the top 50,000 out of over 1.3 million students from 21,000 high schools who entered the 2024 program. |
Mihir Brahma, Tessa Krehley, John Shea, Alexander Lyttle, and Raeann Hontanosas (not pictured) (all Class of 2023) are members of the Immaculata High School Marching Band that won 1st place in Division II at a US Bands competition at South Brunswick High School. This was their second 1st place award of the season as they prepare for the MetLife competition, States, and Nationals later this year. |

Giovanni Oliveti (Class of 2020), currently a senior at Saint Joseph High School, was named an Edison Rotary Senior of the Month for September 2023. He is heavily involved in many service events, clubs, and academic honor societies, including the Campus Ministry Council, Model United Nations, and National Honor Society. Gabriella Kapetanakis and Alexander Dzanoucakis (both Class of 2020) were selected to be part of the Diocese of Metuchen's delegation attending World Youth Day 2023 in Lisbon, Portugal. World Youth Day is a worldwide encounter with the Pope celebrated about every three years in a different country and is a unique opportunity to bring together dozens of different countries and cultures—in one place and in an atmosphere of faith—to think about our common home, peace, and the future of a generation. |
Miah Fitzpatrick, Elise Domingo, and Jewel Davis (all Class of 2022) - former core members of the Peace of Mind youth ministry at St. A's - attended their first retreat together at the The Center for FaithJustice in Trenton, NJ. May they continue to walk humbly with God together through high school and beyond. |
Lt. Chelsea Sheehy (Class of 2006) has been named 2023 Coastguardsman of the Year by Military Times Magazine. She resectly wrapped up a tour as the commanding officer of the US Coast Guard cutter Charles Sexton based in Key West, Florida. Chelsea is up for promotion to Lt. Commander and will now serve as a duty officer in the White House Situation Room, where she will monitor national security issues. Congratulations! | |

James Talocka (Class of 2013) will be serving as a full-time missionary with the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS) this fall at West Virginia University. James and his team will invite students into a relationship with Christ through the Catholic Church, accompany them along their journey, and equip them to share their faith with others. Jewel Davis (Class of 2022) was selected to the Immaculata High School Varsity Tennis team as a freshman and capped off her first season by winning the MVP Award. She also earned All-Skyland Conference Valley Division Second Team honors for her outstanding doubles record. Congratulations! |
Isabella Royle (Class of 2022) was selected to the South Brunswick High School Varsity Softball team as a freshman and just completed her first season starting at 3rd base. Well done! |

Roscoe Davis and Alexander Dzanoucakis (both Class of 2020) were selected to be delegates at the American Legion Jersey Boys State 2023. This organization selects the top rising seniors from each state to be part of their program and considers those students who illustrate leadership, character, scholarship, loyalty and service in their schools and community. Congratulations! |
Christopher Bakhos (Class of 2015) graduated from Cornell University as a member of their Class of 2023, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He will pursue his Master's Degree at Cornell beginning this Fall. Well done! |
Sarah Salins (Class of 2017) was named to the Dean's List for the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University. In order to be eligible for the Dean's List, students must achieve a GPA of 3.93 or better for the semester. Congratulations! |
John Michael Artuso (Class of 2019) was inducted into the Immaculata High School chapter of the Rho Kappa Honor Society, which recognizes high school juniors and seniors for excellence in the study of Social Studies. Well done! |
Bobby Ilcyn (Class of 2019, far left) was one of four St. Joseph High School students selected to receive the Saint Timothy Award from Bishop Checchio and the Diocese of Metuchen. Bobby also received the Saint Theresa award. Congratulations! |
Jordan Gopez (Class of 2019) and Giovanni Oliveti (Class of 2020) are members of the Saint Joseph High School Model United Nations team that recently participated in the Model UN annual regional conference in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Jordan was named a Premier Delegate, an honor bestowed on the best delegates in each of the conference’s subcommittees, and earned an award for “Outstanding Research Paper” which goes to one member of each subcommittee based on the research paper they wrote about their assigned country prior to attending the conference. He was also invited to the Conference on National Affairs, an exclusive conference that brings together the best from Civic Engagement programs around the country. Giovanni was elected to be an officer for next year’s conference. He will be working year round to facilitate the experience for next year’s delegates, and will oversee the International Court of Justice. The St. Joe's team exceeded all expectations at the conference, earning a total of 13 team and individual awards. | ||

Madison Reda (Class of 2020) was inducted into the National Honor Society at Notre Dame High School, recognizing excellence in scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Madison recently had the opportunity to attend the National Catholic Youth Conference in Long Beach, California where she gave several presentations about her involvement in the NeXt Level youth ministry and its PEACE of Mind program. Isabella Royle (Class of 2022) and Kaitlyn W. (future Class of 2028) worked together on a production of The Wizard of Oz with the New Jersey Repertory Theatre this fall. Isabella worked very closely with the cast and crew, and was a wonderful role model for the younger children. Kaitlyn and the other children loved “Miss Bella!” Kaitlyn's mother was actually Isabella's 4th grade teacher, and it brings her so much joy to have a former student inspire her daughter to always be the best she can be. |
Mya Clarke, Lara Flores, and Isabella Odina (all Class of 2021) have been chosen as Peer Leaders at Notre Dame High School and will be assisting the incoming freshmen class with the transition to high school. | ||
Madison Reda (Class of 2020) was recently inducted into Notre Dame High School's Peer Leadership group. As part of this group, Madison will assist the incoming freshmen class with the transition to high school, serve as a role model, and help with school events. Congratulations! |
