St. Augustine of Canterbury School is situated on twenty acres of well manicured land in the heart of central New Jersey. The clean, well maintained building reflects the pride of the previous and present pastor, administration, faculty and staff and parishioners. Our school is comprised of three main sections: The Early Childhood Wing, The Elementary Wing and The Middle School Wing.
Our journey begins in the Pre-Kindergarten wing. This wing is comprised of three spacious and airy classrooms; these rooms are tiled and carpeted. Included in this wing is a faculty room, and child size lavatories. The bright classrooms, which face the schools’ wooded acres, enhance the learning environment. Rounding out the wing, is a fenced in age appropriate playground. Our most recent Pre–Kindergarten addition contains two large, tiled classrooms with an all purpose room and a mini- kitchen area. Each of the Pre–Kindergarten classrooms is equipped with a sink, an intercom, and one or more state of the art and indoor playground fully equipped with a Community Village.
Our Elementary Wing accommodates Kindergarten through grade five in our fifteen classrooms, two of which are dedicated to Educational Services and a Media Center. There are two modern spacious bathrooms for the girls and boys. Both ends of the Elementary wing open up to a lovely wooded area which is used for outdoor educational experiences.
The middle school wing provides each student with his/her own locker and a beautiful open lounge area in the center of the wing that is decorated with the stain glass windows from the original church. This wing is unique in that it provides our students access to a true working Science lab that includes three work stations with sinks and lab benches for all students. Our computer lab contains twenty-eight flat screened computers which are continuously updated with the latest technology. Printers and scanners are also available. The lab is used by all grades, Pre-Kindergarten through grade eight.
In addition to the Science lab and computer lab, the rest of the middle school wing houses five spacious classrooms each, with a wall of windows that allows in natural light and a picturesque view of our grounds.
The first floor of the middle school wing lodges our administrative offices, conference room, our school library, gymnasium and cafeteria. Our gym features original parquet flooring surrounded by a lovely balcony of bleachers. At the far ends of this area are two classrooms, one used for band classes and the other for art classes. The gym also holds a professional sized stage.
We have two Maker Space Rooms that are beautifully and fully equipped.
The cafeteria is fully equipped with a kitchen, two large pantry areas and a serving area. Additionally this fully renovated facility has refrigeration and freezers that are located in the basement of the school. The cafeteria is modern and has thirty-two tables and chairs to accommodate three lunch periods and parish events.
