With a steady increase in the enrollment at St. Augustine of Canterbury School, the middle school wing opened in September 2001 with nearly 125 6th and 7th and 8th grade students who successfully completed their first year in the new middle school wing.
The middle school wing includes five spacious classrooms each, with a wall of windows that allows in natural light and faces the woodland and cultivated school and parish property. Each student has his/her own locker. In addition, the middle school has a student lounge, overlooking our campus. The first floor of the middle school wing lodges our administrative offices, conference room and our school library.
The middle school wing is unique in that it provides our students access to a true working science lab that includes three work stations with sinks and lab benches for all students, lockers and a beautiful open lounge area in the center of the wing is decorated with the stain glass windows from the original church. Our computer lab contains twenty-eight flat screened computers which are continuously updated with the latest technology. Printers and scanners are available. The lab is used by all grades, Pre-Kindergarten through grade eighth. The wireless cart can be found in many classrooms throughout the day. Each middle school classroom has an Interactive WhiteBoard unit which provides interactive lessons and is available for student presentations and projects.
Moreover, every room in the entire school has a television/DVD monitor linked to our broadcast television station, KTN.
Ultimately, our fully air-conditioned facility is protected by a closed circuit security system, is an ideal place for every child to learn and grow.
The middle school offers small classes with an experienced teaching staff. All students wear the school uniform, and there is an emphasis on student organization and self-discipline. St. Augustine of Canterbury’s administration and faculty are committed to helping students achieve personal excellence in their studies and in their lives. Religion class is taught daily. Mass is celebrated at least once a month and on special days, and all classes begin and end with prayer. Praying a decade of the Rosary is a tradition of the Religious Teachers Filippini Community.
There are, however, a few unique qualities that are exclusive to the middle school.
